Sysmocom CF868 cavity filter

An 868 MHz band-pass cavity filter for LoRa and MeshCore nodes, measured with a NanoVNA-H4 from 800 to 1000 MHz. The question: how much does it cost in the 868 MHz band, and how well does it keep out the mobile networks next door?

Key figures

FigureMeasured
Insertion loss, 863–870 MHz0.42–0.82 dB
Insertion loss at 869.5 MHz0.82 dB
Lowest loss0.42 dB at 863.75 MHz
−3 dB passband857.25–874.25 MHz (17.0 MHz)
Return loss, 863–870 MHz13.4–19.2 dB
800–821 MHz (LTE 800 downlink)≤ −53.8 dB
925–960 MHz (GSM/LTE 900 downlink)≤ −50.7 dB

The stopband values are at the NanoVNA's noise floor, about −55 to −60 dB. The real rejection is at least this, probably more. The sweep starts at 800 MHz, so the lowest part of the LTE 800 downlink (791–800 MHz) is not covered.
